The Lost Lantern is a free, seven-level English reading mystery: infer word meanings, choose evidence, unlock a four-digit vault, put a procedure in order, and combine clues to find the final room.
Play in your browser, or download the ZIP for offline play on a desktop browser. Mouse, touch, and keyboard controls; no game account required. Allow roughly 15–20 minutes (an estimate, not yet classroom-tested). Progress is not saved when you close or refresh.
Includes a teacher guide with answers and a printable student response sheet. Designed for supported reading practice, not a secure test or certified curriculum. Answers are fixed and the guide is accessible. Adults should check suitability for their learners.

Install instructions
Download the Offline ZIP, extract all files into one folder, then open index.html in a current desktop web browser. Keep game.css and game.js beside it. No installation or internet is required after download. Open teacher-guide.html for answers and student-sheet.html for a printable response sheet. Progress resets when you refresh or close the game.
